How To Start Blogging From Scratch

Before you do anything, you should plan how to make your blog successful. If you take the time to plan, you won't squander your resources on a blog and topic that no one is interested in.

  • What is the main subject of your blog?
  • What's the point of your blog? How will your blog make you money? (Marketing, Products, and Advertising)
  • In your market, how many competitors do you have?
  • How will your site be different from all the others?
  • How are you passing to get people to visit your site?
  • How much do you think your site will bring in?

At this point, you choose your niche and begin doing research. You need to plan your topics, research keywords, and make a market strategy. Tools like Market Samurai, Google Traffic Estimator, and Traffic Travis can help you find and evaluate relevant keywords for which you can rank highly.

Pick a good domain name.

The next step in making a website is to decide on a domain name. Domain names are inexpensive, and you can buy one for $9.99 or less. It may seem easy to choose a name, but it could take hours to locate a name you like that is also available.

It would help if you spent a lot of time thinking about your domain name because you can't change it later. If you choose a bad domain name, you have to live with it. When I made my first website, I spent several hours writing down different names until I had a list of around eight or nine that I liked. I then chose my three favorites from that list.

I finally chose "Buy Like Buffett" because it was catchy and said a lot about my blog. I thought that, in the future, I could base all of my marketing on the site. Most of the time, it is best if users can get a domain name that matches.

Exact match domains are great because they make it easier for your site to rank for certain keywords and are useful if they describe your blog. Don't worry if your site doesn't have a domain name that is an exact match. You can still ensure that search engines give your site a high ranking. I'll talk more about performing SEO for your website in future posts.

Choose an online hosting company.

There are many hosting companies out there, and there are both a lot of good ones and a lot of bad ones. It's best to look at the rating and reviews immediately to start with a good one. Trust me when I say you don't want to be stuck with a bad web host. A bad company that hosts your website can hurt your traffic, visitors, and money.

Popular Web hosting is where I started my site, and it's been a nightmare. For the first two years, I had to deal with internal server errors, a lot of downtime, and slow loading times. I moved to a new host in the end, but I wasted a lot of time learning how to use it. I wish I had looked into web hosting companies ahead of time.

When you first start blogging, a simple hosting plan is enough. Most of the time, you can buy these for $9.95 or less a month. If you register for a year or more, you can save even more money. You shouldn't pay for a Virtual Private Server strategy until you profit online. Now I'm using Siteground. Siteground hosting is an excellent choice. With features such as 24/7 customer support, free SSL certificates, and daily backups, you can trust that your blog is in good hands with Siteground.

Choose a blogging platform.

WordPress is one of the easiest and simplest ways for a new website owner to make a site. WordPress is a free platform for blogging that makes it easy to set up a site and add content. It is the best platform for bloggers who host their sites.

Blogspot, Tumblr, and Website offer free templates and platforms for blogging, but none are as good for bloggers who want to make money as WordPress. It's very easy to put WordPress on a new site, and it can often be done in just one step.

WordPress is excellent because individuals who own websites can choose from many free themes to start their blogs. Some nice free themes available will work great for most niches. You can always switch to a premium theme when your website makes enough money to pay for it. A free theme is fine for new bloggers who haven't yet made money from their sites.

WordPress and most of the free themes you can use with it. This is important because costs should be kept as low as possible. Too many new bloggers spend thousands of dollars on specially-made themes, plugins, and software before making money online. You don't want to start in the red when you start blogging.

Start creating new content.

Once your new website is up and running, the most important thing you can do is start pumping out content. The direction and tonality of your site will be set by the first few posts you write. You should write these posts and spend time making sure they are useful.

These posts are called "pillar posts" because they have content that is always relevant and will bring in visitors month after month. These posts must answer a question or give people some information they want. In the beginning, I put a lot of useful information on my site.

How-to posts are my favorites because they stay useful for a long time and give readers information they can use. One way to get people interested in your site when it's new is to provide a different take on a popular subject. The essential thing is to have original, high-quality content on your site.

Conclusion

As you can see, creating a blog is a fairly easy process that doesn't cost much money. Realistically, you could have a good website up and running in a few minutes for less than $20. In the following post, I'll talk about some of the things you need to do to take this blog from beginner to advanced.
